Cómo moverse durante los Juegos Olímpicos París 2024

The Paris region will welcome millions of visitors during the Olympic Games Paris 2024 (from July 26 to August 11) and the Paralympic Games Paris 2024 (from August 28 to September 8). Competitions will be hosted at iconic sites in the heart of the city and beyond.

As a consequence, Paris Police will impose security perimeters around event venues. These will make getting around Paris tougher than usual. Please review the information below to better plan for your stay.

Note: Please make sure to check official sources listed below to confirm that the information provided hasn’t recently changed.

Security perimeters

Impact on transportation

Transportation during the Games will be challenging, so please refer to the official government transportation website to plan your itineraries.

  • I plan to walk, bike around: Pedestrians and cyclists are allowed to circulate without any restrictions in security perimeters except during the Opening Ceremony. Please refer to our section below to understand how Opening Ceremony security measures will impact access to your listing.
  • I plan to move around by public transport: The Transport Ministry has developed an interactive map to help you plan your itineraries in public transport during the Games.
  • I plan to move around by car: You will be impacted by restrictions if you are driving in zones designated as a “red” or “blue” zone. Red zones are most restrictive, with only authorized vehicles being able to access these zones. You can request access to red zones for your vehicle on the Police Prefecture website.
  • I plan to take a taxi / Uber to my listing: The same restrictions that apply to cars also apply to Ubers and taxis. If you are traveling in a red zone by taxi or Uber, you can request access to red zones in advance on the Police Prefecture website.

Olympic opening ceremony restrictions

The Olympic Opening Ceremony takes place on July 26, 2024 on the Seine in Paris. French police will set up security perimeters surrounding both banks of the river from July 18 to 26.

The most restrictive perimeter will require anyone over the age of 13 to show a police-issued digital QR code at security checkpoints and an ID to enter. In order to obtain this QR code, individuals will have to register via the police’s dedicated website and provide proof of their stay or employment within the perimeter. Please refer to the official map to understand if your listing is impacted by this perimeter.

How to obtain your QR code:

All travelers above 13 will need to register to obtain a QR code to access the zone.

  • Head to the Paris police registration website
  • Request an "Olympic Games Opening Ceremony Zone" pass
  • Select "Resident" as a reason to request and "Temporary Resident" as a sub-reason
  • Provide your Airbnb proof of stay PDF as "Proof to access the zone". Refer to our dedicated section below on how to download your proof of stay.

Please note that Paris police will take multiple days to issue a QR code, so make sure you register as soon as possible.

Traveling with other people? Any guest, including co-travelers, over the age of 13 will need a police-issued QR code and an ID to show at security checkpoints in order to access their listing between July 18 and 26.

If you are the guest who made the Airbnb booking, we encourage you to invite anyone over the age of 18 who is staying with you to join the trip on Airbnb, so that they can receive important updates concerning their stay. Find out how to add co-travelers.

Are you a Host? As a Host, you will not need to take any action on behalf of your Airbnb Guests. However, we do encourage you to:

  • Register yourself, as well as anyone helping you host to ensure you can access your listing during the affected period
  • Ensure your Guests are aware of the restrictions and redirect them to this article or the official Police website should they have questions

How to download your proof of stay

You will need to provide proof of stay for your Airbnb listing when you register with the Paris police in order to access the Olympic Opening Ceremony perimeter or if you want to access a red zone by car. Please follow these steps to obtain your official proof of stay:
